She takes it off one by one.

The eye shadow

The lipstick

The eyeliner

The blush

The mascara

The foundation

The concealer

The false eyelashes

She takes them all until the girl that was staring at the mirror earlier no longer exists.

She looks plain, very plain. Ordinary, even. Nothing special.

The girl a while ago certainly looked more beautiful… Yet, unrecognizable.

She sees herself now; plain, ordinary, nothing special. But she doesn’t mind.

She lifts her gaze and finds him staring at her through the same mirror; a smile on his face.

He sees her, too, underneath it all.
