Never Let Me Go

on Thursday, August 29, 2013

“I can’t do this, damn it!”

“You haven’t even tried.” You remind me wryly. “You can do it. I promise. Do it little by little. Don’t be afraid. I’m right here.”

My lower lip quivers. “You won’t let me go, right?”

“I’ll even catch you if you fall.” You wink.

I suck in a sharp breath, gripping the handles tightly. I can do this.

Hesitantly, I begin to move my legs one at a time and I felt myself move slowly. I’m moving. I really can do it, just like you said.

You never let go of my bike throughout.

Advesperascit

on Wednesday, August 28, 2013

Fleur stands by the window; a hand resting lightly against the window pain as she watches the approaching evening, taking away the yellows, oranges, reds and pinks in the sky.

Slowly but surely, it appears – one beautiful full moon.

She sighs, lowering her eyes until her gaze falls on him, watching as he sits outside on the soft sand and gazes up at the moon.

Bill will never be a werewolf.

But he will always be drawn to the moon from now on.

Fleur sighs once again, grabbing a nearby blanket, and joins her husband out under the pale moonlight.

One Year Later

on Thursday, July 18, 2013

They made a promise a year ago.

“He’ll come. He’ll come.” She whispered to herself again and again. “He won’t break a promise.”

She was freezing, literally shaking in her boots. The snow fell faster but she once again hoped that he’d come.

She beamed when she saw him, holding an umbrella in his hand. He came closer. She sighed, not quite believing they were finally face to face again.

“Mike.”

“We made a promise, remember?” He whispered. “But why is life so unfair, April?”

She didn’t bother to choke back her sob.

He wouldn’t hear her – see her – anyway.

Souvenirs

Jane’s face was blank; a stark contrast to the smiling, vibrant girl she was in the pictures in her hands.

In every picture, she wasn’t alone. He was there, smiling and as vibrant as her.

She was going to burn them now. The girl and boy in the pictures were no longer them. She needed to forget.

She watched as each picture, their smiling faces turned into ash; the warmth of the flame kissing her fingers. A part of her knew it was a futile attempt. She couldn’t really forget.

Her heart would never forget.

Too bad memories last forever.
